At The Tape Project, we help families rescue their memories from ageing tapes, discs and film before time takes them away. From VHS cassettes and MiniDV tapes to DVDs, Blu-rays and cine film, we carefully digitise your footage and transform it into films that can be watched, shared and enjoyed for generations.
Preserve the moments that matter.
Whether you have a box of old home videos in the loft or want to create a meaningful film for a birthday, anniversary or wedding, we treat every memory with the same care we would give our own.
Old media formats don’t last forever. Tapes can deteriorate, DVDs can become unreadable and film can fade over time. We professionally convert a wide range of formats into modern digital files that are easy to watch on TVs, computers, phones and tablets.
Old family recordings can contain hours of wonderful memories, but watching them back isn’t always easy. There may be long stretches of footage, camera shake, accidental recordings, repeated clips or moments that simply don’t add to the story.
Some memories deserve more than a place on a hard drive. They deserve to be brought together, given context and preserved as a story that can be passed from one generation to the next.
Give classic equipment a second life. At The Tape Project, we buy and sell vintage cameras, camcorders, lenses and related equipment in Suffolk.
The Tape Project was born from a long-term obsession with analogue technology, cameras and the memories they have captured, ignited by teenage years spent using the infamous MiniDV based Sony VX1000 camcorder to create skateboarding films.
That’s why, with a background in creating stories through film, we’ve decided to help people by bringing old memories back to life by carefully digitising VHS, MiniDV, Hi8, Digital8 and other analogue and digital formats. Whether it’s a family holiday, a childhood birthday, a wedding, old skateboarding footage or simply a box of tapes that’s been sitting in a cupboard for twenty years, the aim is the same: preserve the footage and make it easy to watch again.
The Tape Project combines the technical side of digitisation with a filmmaker’s eye for storytelling. Alongside transferring tapes, we can also edit footage into films that are actually worth sitting down and watching, create new heritage films that incorporate old family films with newly told tales on a professionally produced digital short film – we also buy your old equipment!
